Stoma excoriation

While stoma edemas are easily treated, some of their complications are not so effortlessly disposed of. One such example is the stoma excoriation. Essentially, a stoma excoriation is a rash that remained untreated for large periods of time and that got chaffed by improper use of clothing or bathing supplies.

When the initial redness evolves into blisters and those blisters break, then a stoma excoriation is formed. If, even after all this, the patient will not acknowledge their skin problem, the outer layers of the epidermis will dry and become breakable. Soon after, the area of skin affected by stoma excoriation will be so painful to touch that the patient will no longer be able to wear any sort of clothing.

The only treatment for such a severe skin issue must be prescribed by a physician. Once the patient presents with stoma excoriations, he or she has passed the stage of treating the rash with some sort of cream. Usually, the treatment this kind of stoma condition last between two to six weeks. Unfortunately, once the treatment scheme is complete, the patient will be left with marks that resemble pockmarks.

Now, stoma excoriations appear only in severe cases. In general, patients notice that their skin has become damaged somehow and act accordingly.
