        After the stoma surgical procedure is done, a patient must understand two things. The first one is that their life has changed completely. The second one is that, for a good relationship with the newly installed stoma, one must acquire some stoma equipment. For example, more than one pouch for the stoma is a requirement and part of the mandatory stoma equipment.

        Also, some sort of cleaning liquid for the stoma should be part of the patients' stoma equipment. Some things are optional: a very well illuminated mirror that helps a person see the pouch without bending or requiring another set of hands, tweezers to pry open the pouch if it gets stuck and a stoma perfume, to keep the smells contained.

       The good thing about the stoma equipment is that it is made to last for a long time. The bad thing is that it is somewhat expensive. Usually, the changeable stoma bags range in price from fifty to one hundred dollars for five bags. That can be considered a bit much for someone who needs more than thirty bags per month. However, in recent years, scientists have invented the washable and reusable stoma bags and they have become more and more a part of the common stoma equipment.
